Essential Oils The Basics

Traveling with Essential Oils

I travel frequently, usually for pleasure. I am slowly but surely knocking states off my list. Since last year, I have been to New York City, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Chicago, Cincinnati, South Bend, Austin, Cleveland, New Orleans and Washington D.C. Most of these I flew to!

My first question was, can I fly with essential oils?

The answer is absolutely.

I have taken essential oils through security numerous times and have never been stopped. I pack them in my carry on too! I bring quite a few and it has always been fine.

There are a few tricks to traveling with essential oils. Always have them in a sealed plastic bag. It would be a horrible day to have a bottle of Digize break… on a plane. Seems like common sense but, it happens!

I also like to bring aย USB Diffuser. Iย plug it into the hotel nightstand with my iPhone charger. This brings a sense of comfort. Nothing like putting on a hotel rob and diffusing your bedtime oils. Pamper yourself!

I also recommend bringing same bottles with the necessary oils. A bag full of oils can cost you in weight. Remember, some airlines charge you more if your checked bag weighs over 50 pounds.

The hard part is figuring out what to bring. That’s the rest of this article.

I try to narrow it down to my “must-haves”. I bring the “first-aid kit”, too. This means, I make sure to bring the oils I use to ease head tension, upset stomach, sore muscles, fever and other common ailments.

Roller Bottle blends really come in handy with traveling. If you have a set that accomplishes all of those things, you don’t need to bring the 5/15mL bottles. You eliminate risk of bottles breaking and weighing down your bag.

My must-haves are pictured below!

A few of these are interchangeable depending on what I am doing and where I am going. I bring a few flavor oils to spice up my drinks. I bring some calming oils to help me sleep in a new place. I also bring Thieves to put on my feet to help with all the airport germs.

Everyone has different go-to oils. When I traveled to the Young Living Beauty School, it was fun to see what oils everyone brought with them. We were learning a lot so many brought ‘Highest Potential’ and ‘Clarity’.

Below are the roller bottle blends I bring!

Like I said earlier, I bring my ‘first aid’ kit. My allergy relief blend is lemon, lavender and peppermint. My headache blend is peppermint. My boo-boo blend is Helichrysum, Copaiba, Clove, Peppermint, Palo Santo and Lemongrass. My Happy blend is Joy and Orange. I also bring the Young Living Deep Relief roll-on. All of these are diluted with fractionated coconut oil. *

These are so easy to throw in your purse and travel with. Again, I’ve never been stopped by TSA or anyone on the plane. If anything, I’ve gained a few Instagram followers from those who see my backpack! It is from Vistaprint, by the way!
